About Iluka / Yamba coastal bar
Iluka/Yamba marks the entrance to the Clarence River which is 386km in length and is buoyed and beaconed. It is navigable by vessels of 4m draft to Grafton and South Grafton, about 42 miles from the sea.
Transport for NSW (Maritime) maintains a pilot station on Wooli Head, Yamba.
The Clarence River offers protected waters for a range of boating activities from kayaks and canoes through to commercial vessels, while offshore the area is popular for recreational and commercial fishing.
