This historical data reports on the number of students who were awarded the HSC in the period 2019–2023. View the gender, location and socio-economic status of students.
About the statistics
To qualify for the HSC students must satisfactorily complete a:
- Year 11 pattern of study – comprising of at least 12 units.
- Year 12 pattern of study – comprising at least 10 units.
Students must also meet the HSC minimum standard in literacy and numeracy before they can receive their HSC.

Gender
Use the graph to view the gender of students awarded the HSC in the period 2019–2023.
Location
Use the graph to view the number of students awarded the HSC by school location in the period 2019–2023. The location is based on Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Remoteness Area classification.
Socio-economic status (SES)
Use the graph to view the number of students awarded the HSC by SES in the period 2019–2023. The SES is based on the student’s address.
- Quartile 1 – represents the lowest or most disadvantaged 25% of SES localities.
- Quartile 4 – represents the highest or most advantaged 25%.
