Schools are required to submit entries in Schools Online for the award of the Higher School Certificate and the Record of School Achievement. To ensure student enrolment details are accurate, schools need to use the correct course code.
The tables below provide:
- a list of courses for new NSW syllabuses being implemented from 2024
- course codes for each new course
- links to new syllabuses on the Digital Curriculum website, which include assessment and reporting information and support materials.
Stage 5 Mandatory courses
Schools that are implementing the new Mathematics K–10 syllabus in Year 10 in 2024 need to ensure that students are enrolled in the correct course using the new course code.
All other general education mandatory course codes remain unchanged.

Stage 5 Elective courses
From 2024, the Computing Technology 7–10 syllabus replaces the Information and Software Technology 7–10 syllabus. However, students who commenced studying the 200-hour Information and Software Technology course in 2023 may continue to study that syllabus in 2024 (using the existing course code).

Schools that are delivering a Stage 5 elective course in a Modern or Classical language that is not listed below should enter students into Modern Languages – General or Classical Languages – General course(s).
Students who commenced studying the following 200-hour courses in 2023 may continue to study that syllabus for 2024 (using the existing course code):

The new Software Engineering 11–12 syllabus replaces the Software Design and Development Stage 6 syllabus from Year 11, 2024. See the course overview for course exclusions.
If an accelerated student completes the HSC for the existing course in 2024, should they attempt the new courses within the five-year accumulation period, the latest attempt will void the previous results for the Higher School Certificate.
