NSW Teacher Accreditation Manual
The Minister for Education and Early Learning has approved the NSW Teacher Accreditation Manual (TA Manual), following amendments to the Teacher Accreditation Act 2004 in November 2021.

Please note, some of the reform implementation dates in this Official Notice have been superseded by Official Notice 26/22.
Following amendments to the Teacher Accreditation Act 2004 in November 2021, the Minister for Education and Early Learning has approved the NSW Teacher Accreditation Manual (the TA Manual).
The purpose of the TA Manual is:
- to outline the requirements, conditions and criteria for each stage of the teacher accreditation process
- to reflect amendments to the Teacher Accreditation Act, 2004.
The TA Manual is being implemented in stages. However, the whole manual has been published so teachers, schools, services, Teacher Accreditation Authorities (TAAs) and employers can prepare for its implementation in full.
Implementation timeline
Effective immediately
Sections 1-3; 10; and 11, which replace the previous:
- Provisional and Conditional Accreditation Policy
- English Language Proficiency of Teachers at Provisional or Conditional Accreditation Policy
- Interim Suspension, Revocation & Voluntary Cancellation of Accreditation Policy
Effective 29 Nov 2022
Sections 4-7; 9; 12; and 14 which will replace all other NESA teacher accreditation policies and procedures. Section 5.1.1 will not be fully implemented until 2023, see below.
The Guidelines for the Regulation of Teacher Accreditation Authorities for Non-Government Schools and Early Childhood Education Centres (TAA Guidelines) will be decommissioned.

- Registration Systems and Member Non-government Schools (NSW) Manual
- Registration Process for the NSW Government Schooling System Manual
Effective February 2023, date to be confirmed
Sections 8 and 13 which introduce:
- a non-practising accreditation category
- a suitability to teach requirement.
Effective 2023, date to be confirmed
- Section 5.1.1 relating to the logging of Elective professional development.
