Purpose of a Site Visit
You must participate in a Site Visit. NESA assigns an External Assessor to you who will conduct the Site Visit.
NESA provides training to the External Assessor to give an independent, objective review of your teaching practice in relation to the Standards at your nominated career stage.
The Site Visit is an opportunity to demonstrate nominated Standard Descriptors through both teaching and non-teaching activities.
What a Site Visit involves
There are 2 pathways for you to complete a Site Visit:
- on-site
- recorded.
The requirements for both are the same.
The Site Visit includes:
- an observation of 3 sessions of your practice across a single day – 2 of these need to be of you teaching students or children
- a structured interview between your principal or service director and the External Assessor
- an optional professional discussion between the External Assessor and up to 2 teacher colleagues you have nominated
- a professional discussion between you and the External Assessor who provides feedback on their observation of your practice in relation to the nominated Standard Descriptors.
Early childhood teachers
In an early childhood context you can nominate a teacher colleague from the same service, employer or your professional network who has first-hand knowledge of your teaching practice and impact.
