Develop and submit your final module
Steps to develop and submit your final module
At the final step, as an applicant to Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation you will develop and submit your third module. During this stage, you may be asked to revise and resubmit evidence before NESA makes its decision on your application.
Develop your final module
Follow the same process you used to develop Modules 1 and 2.
Refer to the module reports for Modules 1 and 2 to address the feedback you have received.
Develop your annotated documentary evidence to fully demonstrate any Standard Descriptors not previously met.
Module 3 does not have the same limits on the number of items or sets of evidence or Standard Descriptors as Modules 1 and 2.
Submit your final module
Before you submit Module 3, ensure you have met any outstanding requirements, including:
- a minimum of 3 referees
- 2 internal observations of your practice
- your observation of a colleague’s practice
- documentary evidence from each of the 6 evidence categories.
HALT Assessors will assess your third module and provide you with a detailed HALT Module Report. The report will contain feedback and advice on the Standard Descriptors identified in this module which are:
- fully demonstrated
- partially demonstrated
- not demonstrated.
Resubmit any requested revisions
After assessing your third module, NESA may ask you to revise and resubmit documentary evidence where 1 or more Standard Descriptors have not yet been successfully demonstrated.
You will have 3 months to submit your revisions.
Your Module 3 will be reassessed and a HALT Module Report sent to you.
Await NESA's accreditation decision
NESA will make its accreditation decision within 28 days of you submitting your third module, or if applicable, within 28 days of you submitting your revisions.
If your application is successful:
- You and your principal or service director and employer will be notified of the accreditation decision.
- NESA will issue you with a Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher certificate.
- You will start your first maintenance period at the relevant career stage.
If your application is unsuccessful
After you submit your revised documentary evidence, the HALT Assessors will complete a final HALT Module Report based on all evidence submitted, including your revised evidence.
If your application is unsuccessful after submitting any Module 3 revisions, NESA will notify you. We will provide you with the reasons for our accreditation decision.
You may:
- want to share the reasons with your principal, service director and/or employer to seek support
- open a new application when you decide you are ready
- apply to NESA for an internal review of a decision to not accredit you
- apply to the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) for a review of NESA’s decision to not accredit you if you are not satisfied with the outcome of the internal review.
You will remain accredited at your current career stage. You will need to continue to meet the relevant maintenance requirements and timeframes.
