Maintain Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation

What maintaining at a higher level means

As a Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher you need to continue to:

• demonstrate exemplary teaching practice at or above the relevant Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (the Standards)
• complete professional development and professional commitment activities
• model and lead innovative teaching and learning practices that relate to all applicable Standards.

Length of an accreditation maintenance cycle

Your employment type determines how long you have to meet your maintenance requirements.

• Full-time: 5 years
• Casual or part-time: 7 years

If your employment status changes, you may be able to adjust your maintenance timeframe from 5 to 7 years. You will need to provide evidence of the change to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
