NSW welcomes newest firefighters
Following weeks of tough training, 24 recruit firefighters officially joined Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW) during a ceremony at the State Training College at Alexandria.
They are trained in the latest firefighting technology, road crash and high-angle rescue, risk management and handling hazardous materials.
NSW Minister for Emergency Services David Elliott said the firefighters would soon join crews around Sydney, including Parramatta, Silverwater, Redfern and Smithfield.
“I wish the graduating class well in what is an important, but sometimes dangerous, career and I thank them for choosing a profession dedicated to protecting the community, property and the environment of NSW,” Mr Elliott said.
