State Funeral service for Les Murray AM
The State Funeral will start at 11am on 14 August 2017, at St Mary’s Cathedral, College Street Sydney.
Doors will open at 10am and all guests are asked to be seated by 10.45am.
Mr Murray was one of Australia’s most recognised and loved sporting identities.
Throughout his 35-year broadcasting career, he was a passionate advocate for football and an instrumental figure in making the world game part of our culture today.
Mr Murray came to Australia as a refugee from Hungary and throughout his life was a dedicated advocate for refugees and a champion of multiculturalism.
In 2006, he was honoured with a Member of the Order of Australia and was inducted into the Football Federation Australia Hall of Fame.
In honour of a multicultural world, guests attending the funeral are encouraged to wear white.
