OSII was delighted to attend the official opening of Foyer Central on 8 Feb 2021.
Foyer Central is the only purpose-built Foyer in NSW, and the first Foyer in the world to be funded by a social impact bond, and solely focused on care leavers. The newly constructed 53 studio apartments in Chippendale will provide young people with lived experience of out-of-home-care with a safe and affordable home while they develop skills to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
The occasion acknowledged the committed and collaborative journey in bringing this investment to life, including Uniting, St George Community Housing, Social Ventures Australia, City of Sydney, Department of Communities and Justice, and OSII.
OSII most enjoyed joining in the smoking ceremony, and hearing an incoming resident share his story so far and why he is excited to move into Foyer Central to fast track his plans to become a youth worker.
