Notification to NESA
Notify NESA of the relevant decision
After the performance process is complete or substantially complete, and you determine that the teacher has not maintained their practice at the Proficient Teacher level, please notify us of this decision by:
- emailing TAnotifications@nesa.nsw.edu.au within 28 days
- including evidence relating to the teacher’s failure to maintain the Standards (see Section 11.5.1 of the NSW Teacher Accreditation Manual).
Evidence to include
The email must include:
- reasons for the decision
- evidence of the teacher's failure to demonstrate that their practice meets the Standards and Standard Descriptors
- evidence that the teacher was given written notice and 28 days to respond, including responses received from the teacher
- evidence that the teacher was provided with appropriate and timely support and advice, in line with your internal procedures.
NESA makes an accreditation decision
When we are notified by a principal, service director or employer that a teacher’s practice does not meet the Standards, we:
- may request more information or documentation to ensure due process has been followed and to inform our decision
- will review the evidence and make an accreditation decision.
If we find that the teacher failed to maintain their accreditation, we issue 14 days’ written notice of an intention to revoke their accreditation. The teacher can respond to the notice and provide relevant information to inform our decision.
How teachers request a review of a decision
Teachers can also apply for an internal review of a decision.
If they are not satisfied with the outcome of the internal review, they can apply to the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal for a review of NESA's decision.
