90 years of an Australian icon
We are excited to launch a colourful commemorative certificate to celebrate 90 years of Blinky Bill, the mischievous Koala beloved by all Australians.
Created by Dorothy Wall in 1933, the iconic character is featured in the bottom section of the certificate, dressed in red overalls next to his best friend and adopted sister, Nutsy. While Blinky’s mum, Mrs Koala, keeps a watchful eye over the pair.
Three new commemorative birth certificates featuring designs from Australian Author May Gibbs have also been released. These include Boronia Baby, Gumnut Baby and Flora and Fauna.
You have a choice to purchase:
- single commemorative birth certificate. Cost: $41
- package that includes an official birth certificate and a commemorative certificate. Cost only $87
Cost includes postage.
You can't order a commemorative certificate on its own for a new baby.
Our commemorative birth certificates are:
- suitable for framing at 279mm x 355mm (that's a bit bigger than A4 paper
- printed on archival paper and wrapped in acid-free tissue paper
- sent to you in a protective cardboard cylinder.
Commemorative certificates are keepsakes and not official proof of identity documents.

Lunar New Year
Australian/Chinese contemporary oriental brush painter, Lucy Wang, has created these beautiful designs to celebrate the Chinese Zodiac Year of the Rabbit (2023) or Year of the Tiger (2022)

Australian Classics
Fauna – this beautiful design by Australian artist Lynne Muir has been a favourite for the last 20 years.
Ken Done – 'Sydney Harbour' is an original work by world-renowned Sydney artist Ken Done. Royalties from the sale of this certificate go to supporting UNICEF.
Blinky Bill – Dorothy Wall created this iconic Australian koala character in 1933. Ever since then Blinky Bill has been appearing in books, TV and films, and now he's popping up on this delightful certificate.

May Gibbs
May Gibbs (1877-1969) was an illustrator, artist and children's author best known for her gumnut babies creations, inspired by Australian bush flora. Royalties from sale of May Gibbs’ designs help fund the charities Cerebral Palsy Alliance and Northcott.
Boronia Baby – In 1916 the book 'Gum blossom babies' was published, the beginning of the bush fantasy world that captured the imaginations of Australians for over a century.
Gumnut Baby – Gibbs’ illustrations featuring the baby figures modelled on eucalypt buds and flowers first appeared in 1913.

Rainbow family
The certificate features bright pride colours with genderless native animals as rainbow families enjoying themselves among iconic Sydney landmarks.
Sydney-based artist, illustrator and animator Monica Higgins (she/her) removed gender from the focus of the illustration to give our rainbow families the freedom to be seen as they wish to be.
$1 from the sale of each Rainbow commemorative birth certificate goes to Twenty10 incorporating Gay and Lesbian Counselling Service NSW, who work with people across Sydney and New South Wales who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and gender diverse, non-binary, intersex, questioning, queer, asexual and more (LGBTIQA+) people and others of diverse genders and sexualities, their families and communities.
