Networking and exchanging ideas will be on the agenda at the forum and all Health Councils will give a presentation on their achievements during the year. The forum will also hear presentations from LHD staff about Broken Hill Health Service, District Health Services and the Future of Aboriginal Health
The keynote speaker this will be Emma Collins from Health Consumers NSW. Ms Collins will give a presentation titled 'Health Consumers: How to make the most of your role' and one titled 'Consumer's Tool kit'. These will be followed by a round table discussion.
'Health Council members representing Health Councils across the District get together at our one-day Forum and exchange ideas on how to improve health services in their communities,' said Ms Darriea Turley, Manager Community Engagement and Forum Convenor.
The Forum also allows participants to share their views on health issues and learn more about the role they play in improving health services in their communities.
'We are very excited to have Emma Collins speak the Forum and for health council members to learn more about how they can get the most out of their role,' said Ms Turley.
The Forum also provides the opportunity for the LHD to be informed of emerging issues in the communities it serves.
'Health Councillors provide a voice for the community which ensures benefits for their communities and builds co-operation between communities and health services,' said Ms Turley.
'The Far West LHD will continue to work with communities across the far west to improve their health and wellbeing through leadership and partnerships.'
The Forum will take place at Thyme on Argent from 9am to 2.30pm.
