Living and working in Brewarrina

Brewarrina is set on the banks of the Barwon River overlooking the ancient fish traps and is a mecca for those keen on fishing. The township has cafes, two supermarkets, butcher, a petrol station, caravan park, hotel, RSL Club, motels, takeaways, a GP clinic and dentist, a pharmacy, a butcher shop, churches and a childcare centre, pre-school and central school.

Brewarrina has a Modified Monash ranking of 7.

Community

There are a number of museums to explore such as the Aboriginal Cultural Museum with guided tours of the fish traps, and the Local Heritage Museum. There is a great choice of recreational and sporting facilities such as an 18-hole golf course, swimming pool, river weir, tennis & basketball courts, a clay target club, football pitch (both touch football and rugby league) and cricket ovals.

In Brewarinna you will find a youth and family centre, girls groups, library and a range of events including outback fashion month, horse races, family fun day, community movie nights and welcome nights for new residents.

Getting here

Brewarrina is situated between Walgett (90-minute drive) and Bourke (1-hour dive). It is a 4 hour drive to Dubbo with a daily bus service. There are twice weekly flights from Dubbo to Bourke and weekly flights from Dubbo to Walgett. There are multiple daily flights and one daily train service from Sydney to Dubbo. To drive to Brewarrina from Sydney will take 9 hours.
