Living and working in Oberon
The Oberon local government area has a population of 5,500 and is located in the Central Tablelands of NSW. Oberon is surrounded by hills, open ranges and wilderness, nearby Jenolan Caves and Kanangra-Boyd National Park are great for exploring. The area is popular for its cool summers, snowy winters and its four distinct seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter.
Moving to Oberon means clean air, little traffic, a crisp alpine climate, a short drive or walk to work, friendly people, a safer environment and a real sense of community. The main industry in Oberon is forestry, timber processing to finished product. Oberon also has a strong farming history with prime lambs and beef cattle being the main rural industry.

Community
Property in Oberon is very affordable, with quiet rural living available close to town or on acerage.
There are good education options in Oberon with two preschools (one with long day care), and two high schools. Private schooling is an option in Bathurst (35 minutes by bus) where there is also a TAFE College and university.
Oberon has a beautiful golf course, hockey and netball fields, an indoor tennis centre, equestrian facilities and a swimming pool open in Summer months. Other popular sports include rugby union and rugby league, sailing, motorcycling and soccer. The Oberon pioneer railway line has been restored as a 20km cycling/walking loop track.
There are plenty of outdoor recreation options with bushwalking, mountain biking, cycling, mushroom foraging (in season) and four-wheel driving in national parks and forests.
Oberon has safe parks with play equipment including a community park - The Common and trout fishing in Lake Oberon all year and in the streams and rivers in season. Three national parks within close distance Blue Mountains, Kanangra-Boyd and Abercrombie River featuring Jenolan Caves and Kanangra Walls.
