Gender equity
Learn how we’re improving gender equity in the NSW public sector through parental leave, safe workplaces, and inclusive recruitment.
Everyone should have equal access to opportunities and resources – no matter their gender.
Women often face barriers that can make work less fair or supportive. The NSW Government is working to remove these barriers and build more equal workplaces.
Some people face other barriers because of their background, identity and other circumstances. We take an intersectional approach, which means we consider how factors like culture, race, age, language, disability, sexuality, gender identity and location can combine to shape people’s experiences.
What we're doing to support gender equity
We work with NSW Government departments and agencies to improve gender equity across the public sector. This includes:
- improving paid parental leave for all NSW public sector employees
- making workplaces safer and more respectful by helping to prevent and respond to sexual harassment.
