Stepping On is designed to help you learn skills and knowledge to prevent falls, so you can stay active and independent. It teaches you simple ways to stay safe at home and when you're out. You'll also learn easy exercises to make your muscles and balance stronger.
Topics covered include:
- being safe at home
- being safe in your community
- getting stronger and improving balance
- getting up after a fall
- managing your medications
- taking care of your vision
- choosing safe footwear
- eating healthy for strong bones.
Who can join? If you're over 65 and live in the Wagga Wagga Local Government Area, or if you're over 45 and identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, and you live at home, Stepping On could be just right for you.
NOTE: This program is not suitable for those with dementia or neuromuscular conditions e.g. Parkinson disease.
