Western NSW welcomes allied health graduates
Communities in Western NSW are set to benefit from a boost to local health services, with more than a dozen allied health graduates starting work across Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD).
The 15 graduates will be located across Bathurst, Dubbo and Orange, as part of the Allied Health Rural Graduate Program (AHRGP), which is running for the first time this year.
Acting Executive Director Allied Health and Innovation, Di Harvey, extended a warm welcome to the group and thanked them for choosing a rewarding career in health.
“It is very exciting to be offering this two-year pilot program for the first time in Western NSW. The program will introduce allied health graduates to regional healthcare, allowing them to rotate through at least four different services during that period,” Mrs Harvey said.
“These graduates will provide the local community with a broad range of health services, including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech pathology, dietetics and social work.”
Mrs Harvey said allied health professionals play a vital role in delivering patient-centred care.
“The Allied Health Rural Graduate Program is an exciting opportunity to strengthen our indispensable regional allied health workforce,” Mrs Harvey said.
“This program allows graduates to not only experience working in rural and remote Western NSW, but also to experience living and staying in our region.”
“The AHRGP offers a supported transition into the workforce with regular clinical supervision, with a focus on competency-based learning objectives, dedicated professional development time and multidisciplinary education days.”
