What’s this about?

The Forestry Regulation 2022 streamlines the enforcement of the Forestry Act 2012.

The Forestry Act ensures that the management and use of state forests is:

  • efficient and environmentally sustainable, and

  • consistent with the principles of ecologically sustainable development.

All laws are reviewed regularly to maintain relevancy and meet objectives.

To achieve this, DPI:

  • reviewed the current Forestry Regulation 2012,

  • prepared a Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS), and

  • created the proposed new Forestry Regulation.

The draft 2022 regulation is mostly in line with the 2012 regulation. However, the new laws will incorporate beekeeping and grazing provisions from integrated forestry operations approvals.
