New X-ray Unit Improves Service and Expands Space for Breastscreen
The Medical Imaging Department at the Broken Hill Health Service has new X-ray equipment in a redevelopment that will also benefit local breast screening services.
The Department has installed a brand new Phillips CombiDiagnost hybrid radiography/fluoroscopy unit to replace two X-ray units which were each over 15 years old.
The new technology will help workflow by providing another Xray suite for outpatients. It uses less radiation dose than previous technology and is fully digital, thereby reducing processing times. The cost of the new machine is about $450,000.
The new unit also frees up floor space for a BreastScreen redevelopment/refurbishment in the department. This will give patients a more discrete waiting area with more privacy and consultation space when attending BreastScreen and mammography clinics within the health service.
