Submit your application
Apply before you settle
If you need the grant for your property settlement or first drawn down/progress payment, you can apply through the financial institution that arranged your home loan.
Most banks, credit unions, building societies, housing co-ops, finance companies and other lenders are approved agents and will be able to submit an application on your behalf.
For contracts entered into on or after 1 July 2023, use this First Home Owner (New Home) Grant Application form and lodgement guide.
Your lender will also need to see your proof of identity documents as well.
Apply after settlement
If you’ve already completed the purchase or construction process, you can lodge your application via the FHOG customer portal.
You must lodge within 12 months of settlement or the completed construction date of your new home. Additional documents will be required for applications submitted after 12 months.
For contracts entered into on or before 30 June 2023, use this First Home Owner (New Home) Grant Application form and lodgement guide, and attach the supporting information outlined above plus documents to prove your identity. The residence requirement for such applications is 6 continuous months.
