Field Work Safety Policy

This policy identifies Youth Justice NSW employee responsibilities when undertaking field work, specifically the prevention, identification and mitigation of risk factors and hazards.

The Field Work Safety Policy applies to all Youth Justice NSW employees undertaking fieldwork, particularly Youth Justice caseworkers in the community, sessional supervisors, conference conveners, mentors, assistant managers and area managers. 

The purpose of this policy is to provide Youth Justice NSW employees with direction and information to: 

  • identify and manage safety risks associated with field work by eliminating hazards arising from working in the field, or where not possible, minimising the risks 
  • understand the minimum standards of safe practice that must be adhered to.
