The Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan is jointly run by the NSW Government and Australian Federal Government, with the aim of building a stronger and more prosperous region.
The first stage of the plan will focus on the delivery of a $500 million upgrade to Bringelly Road, which will slash travel times and improve access to the future Badgery’s Creek Airport.
The plan will also include the following works:
- $1.6 billion to upgrade 31km of The Northern Road to four lanes from Narellan to the M4 Motorway.
- $1.25 billion to build a new 14km motorway from M7 Motorway and The Northern Road and further funding to improve local roads.
The $65 million stage one upgrade to Schofield’s Road in North-Western Sydney has now opened to traffic. Stage two of the Schofield’s Road project has been fast-tracked, with the $205 million project due to start next month.
Minister for Roads and Freight Duncan Gay said he was happy with progress of road infrastructure development initiatives across the region.
“Across Western Sydney we have construction well underway on key road upgrades, this is just a snapshot of the activity that’s a result of historic investment of more than $20 billion in roads by the NSW Government,” Minister Gay said.
