Nyngan Solar Farm opens to the public
Visitors are welcome at one of the largest operating solar farms in the southern hemisphere.
Nyngan Solar Farm will give visitors the opportunity to use the new viewing platform and explore Indigenous culture in the Bush Tucker Garden.
The solar farm generates power for the Central West region of NSW, including east Dubbo and west Cobar.
More than 32,000 homes in the region receive clean energy from the solar farms 100-megawatt capacity.
Minister for Energy and Utilities Don Harwin said Nyngan Solar Farm has made a substantial contribution to secure clear energy in NSW.
“The viewing platform and Bush Tucker Garden will make this solar farm a tourist destination, and promote knowledge about Indigenous culture,” Mr Harwin said.
Since it opened in June 2015, Nyngan has been joined by solar farms in Broken Hill and Moree.
Solar farms in Parkes, Dubbo, Glenn Innes, Manildra, and Griffith will be completed soon.
