Creative Kids program

The $50 Creative Kids voucher encourages school-aged children to enrol in creative and cultural activities.

We know that creativity plays an important part in a child’s development. Engaging in creative activities can have a profound effect on interpersonal skills, and emotional development. It assists in fostering curious, courageous minds in young people allowing them to confidently problem solve and express themselves.

While children benefit from participating in performing and visual arts, many families cannot afford to enrol children in extra-curricular activities.

What does it mean for families?

The Creative Kids program helps more young people access important learning opportunities across a range of creative and cultural activities.

As cost of living pressures pose a big challenge for many households in NSW, this program assists in alleviating costs related to engagement in extra-curricular activities.

What we are doing

The NSW Government is helping ease the cost of living with more than 70 rebates and savings.

The $216 million Creative Kids program, launched in 2019, helps NSW families with the cost of enrolling their kids in creative and cultural activities.

Parents, guardians and carers can claim a $50 voucher to put towards the cost of registration, participation and tuition costs. This voucher is not means tested, and is available to all school-aged children and young people in NSW each year for the duration of the program.

The program is designed to support children and young people in enjoying a diverse range of creative and cultural activities, from painting to coding, graphic design to poetry, and music to theatre.

How we are tracking

The Creative Kids program has been a resounding success with parents, carers and guardians saving more than $160 million in registration and tuition fees between January 2019 and August 2022.
