In 2024, the following Screen, Arts and Cultural organisations are offering internships for a period of 4 weeks (full-time) or up to 16 weeks (part-time) targeted to creative practitioners with disability or who are d/Deaf.

Internships are located across NSW, including Regional NSW, Sydney and Western Sydney.
The Createability Internship Program supports up to 10 participants, supporting skills development and growth in participation of people with disability contracted and employed across the arts, screen and culture sectors.
The Createability Internship Program is a partnership between Create NSW, Screen NSW and Accessible Arts and a range of NSW-based arts, screen and cultural organisations.
Screen Industry Hosts
Animal Logic is recognised as one of the world’s leading independent creative digital studios, based in Moore Park, Sydney, producing award winning design, visual effects and animation for over 30 years.
Internship Title 1: Internship Production
Role Description: The Production team are responsible for the efficient, day-to-day facilitation of processes, procedures, outputs and deliverables of digital artists. In partnership with the department supervisor/lead they are also responsible for motivating a team of artists, increasing efficiency, and streamlining processes where appropriate. A production intern will gain exposure to production, as well as tools to support the projects, including excel, project and other industry tools.
Internship Title 2: Internship Digital Artist
Role Description: A digital artist is responsible for the day-to-day generation of assets/shots to a creative or technical brief in support of the Director’s vision. The digital artist should ensure there is a consistent level of quality and delivery within established timelines. A digital artist can be specialised to a specific department (eg Art, Animation, Editing) or work more broadly as a generalist. A digital artist intern may be given hands on experience aligned to the department they will work within.
The ABC Originals Team in Children’s has commissions in production throughout 2024, giving our successful intern recipient the opportunity to work across the department on pre-school, children's factual and podcast content alongside our in house teams. Recipients will also have access to learning how the ABC Kids external commissioning team work, and be a meaningful part the life cycle of a production, with the flexibility to choose either full time, part time, hybrid or onsite working.
Internship Title: Production Assistant
Role description: The recipient will, under supervision, contribute to the ABC Children’s Originals team and tasks as a Production Assistant. It is an entry level position and limited prior experience is required.
Key duties:
- Perform assignments with support and supervision, to research and produce content that is engaging and to a quality standard.
- Assist with rehearsal, studio prep, field shoots and talent.
- Where required, handle camera cards, data camera and equipment as well as media management.
- Attend team brainstorming sessions and share digital and content ideas for consideration.
- Collaborate on and contribute to editorial output of ABC Children’s Original productions.

Internship Title: Compass intern researcher
Role Description: Join the team behind long running Religion & Ethics program Compass, as an intern working closely with TV researchers and producers to research Compass episodes, identify on camera talent or provide factual details to enhance the story.
Ideally looking for an applicant with strong research and writing skills, and an interest in factual TV. Prior experience or training in screen content making a plus, but not essential.

The ABC is an organisation committed to Diversity and Inclusion, particularly seeking to engage staff and create talent living with a disability. Highly skilled TV creatives make the series Compass, and an attachment to the program has the potential to provide any intern with an opportunity to learn the craft of TV making from a talented team of professionals.
Bronte Pictures is a film production company based in Byron Bay.
Their latest film, Take My Hand, began production in late 2022. Bronte Pictures have created the Bronte Pathway program for students studying Film and TV.
Internship Title 1: Production Runner and/or Location Assistant.
Role Description: This role provides hands-on experience in film production. Interns will assist in various aspects of on-set operations, gaining insights into the roles and responsibilities of different crew members.
Key Duties: Assisting with on-set logistics and coordination. Providing support to the production team as needed and gaining exposure to various roles in the production process.

Internship Title 2: Production Assistant All-Rounder
Role Description: This internship offers a comprehensive experience in various aspects of film production. Interns will be involved in multiple tasks, gaining a well-rounded understanding of the production process.
Key Duties: Supporting different departments. Assisting with administrative tasks from pre to post-production phases. Collaborating with the production team to ensure smooth operations.

An internship at Lingo Pictures would provide access to an excellent slate of projects and a wealth of knowledge - a great opportunity for an emerging creative.
Internship Title: Development Assistant
Role Description: The Development Assistant is responsible for supporting Lingo's Development team in the areas of project assessment, talent scouting, arrangement of writers rooms and development financing submissions, among others. A successful applicant in this role will bring strong taste-making sensibilities in line with current market trends, ability to write creative assessment reports for projects under consideration, and manage upcoming development activities for high-profile talent.
Key Duties:
- Provide reports on submission materials under consideration
- Prepare development funding applications to Screen Australia and various state/territory funding bodies
- Edit pitch documentation for projects in development
- Assist with arranging writers rooms including accommodation, travel and team contracting
- Provide support to the Head of Development and Development Manager as reasonably required.

Internship Title: Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator
Role Description: Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator role, would involve working closely with SBS's Content Industry Diversity Manager to deliver administration, research and projects related to the delivery of the SBS Commissioning Equity & Inclusion Guidelines (2021-2024) across SBS commissioned and internally produced TV shows, which aim to increase representation of people from historically excluded communities across cast/contributor and crew roles on SBS commissioned programs.

Each year the company presents an annual season of shows for this now-iconic corner stage. Internship Title: Philanthropy Intern
Role Description: The Philanthropy Intern will assist the Development team to grow loyalty and support through exceptional customer service, stewardship, communications and reporting. They will gain experience across administration, CRM management, events coordination, annual giving, major gifts and emerging donor circles. Beyond philanthropy, the intern will have the opportunity to understand Belvoir’s strategic operations by attending Head of Department meetings, regular engagement with the Executive Director and collaboration between Belvoir teams.
Key Duties:
- Assist the development team with communications to donors and prospects via phone, email and written communication.
- Administrate the stewardship of corporate and individual philanthropists
- Use in-house CRM Tessitura for reporting and processing donations
- Maintaining donor records
- Researching grants, philanthropists and prospects for future support
- Contributing to all staff and Head of Department meetings
- Provide day-to-day administrative support for the department as well as donor events
- Assist the Development department with developing and delivering fundraising appeals
Erth Visual and Physical Inc. has been consistently touring and creating new shows for over 30 years and are always looking at ways we can innovate the theatre experience and bring something new and exciting to audiences. As a well-established not-for-profit arts organisation, they are able to provide a unique learning space for the intern to begin their theatre administration and/or puppet-making journey, connecting them to industry peers, prop makers and theatre creators.
Internship Title 1: Arts Administration
Role Description: The intern will assist in the everyday administration of the company. The intern will assist the Producer and Executive Director in relation to upcoming shows and events and the everyday running of the studio space and workshop.
Key duties:
- Assisting the Producer and Executive Director to build budgets and touring schedules
- Assisting in the organisation of filming educational workshop content to be used as part of education packages for shows
- Assisting in the organisation of logistics for upcoming tours and events. This includes liaising with cast, crew, and venue management.

Internship Title 2: Puppet/prop making
Role Description: In this role, the intern will learn key skills related to puppet and prop making and be given the opportunity to assist in the construction of puppets, props and other scenic elements. The intern will work closely with Erth's makers in the workshop and assist with digital design, material sourcing, construction and maintenance.
Key duties:
- Assisting puppet makers in construction
- Using mixed media materials such as fabrics and foam
- Assisting in the maintenance of touring puppets

Legs On The Wall (LOTW) are an internationally recognised physical theatre company based in Lilyfield, Sydney. LOTW performances appeal to diverse audiences, incorporating the lyricism of dance and the enchantment of circus with the expressive heft of the theatre.
Internship Title: Anniversary Events Intern
Role Description: The Anniversary Events Intern will assist LOTW with planning, logistics, invitations and undertaking hosting duties for the company's signature 40th anniversary gala event in November 2024.
Duties to include:
- working closely with LOTW permanent staff to realise plans for a stunning 40th Anniversary gala event, including planning of staging/event design, booking caterers, planning background music, and liaising with site stakeholders at 91 Canal Road to ensure the event will be compatible with other activity on the site
- briefing LOTW Graphic Designer to create a unique and meaningful event invitation and "save the date" notice, and drafting emails for VIPS
- monitoring RSVPs with LOTW staff
- acting as a central point of contact for the Gala evening, coordinating catering and post-performance music, as well as VIP speakers or other service providers contributing to the event
- greeting VIP guests on arrival and assisting LOTW permanent staff with guest relations
- planning draft post-event correspondence

Internship Title: Development Internship at Musica Viva Australia
Role Description: Musica Viva Australia is offering an internship position in the Development team. This is an administrative role that will suit someone with an interest in fundraising who is keen to gain experience in the busy Development department of a major performing arts organisation. The intern will have the opportunity to support and undertake a range of tasks, and to strengthen their skills in fundraising administration.
Key duties:
- Support prospect research for new donors and funders.
- Support fundraising event planning.
- Undertake archival research to support MVA’s 80th birthday planning.
- Undertake donor data administration.
- Attend concerts, presentations and events when available.
- Assist with mail-outs and administration of key access programs such as Broadcast Club.

The Orange Regional Conservatorium based in Orange, NSW is a leading regional music education/performing arts organisation currently employing 45 musicians, with a vibrant student base and positive organisational culture.
Internship Title: Createability Intern 2024
Role Description: The role offers variety and the opportunity to shape the way in which our organisation encompasses inclusivity. The internship will focus on the current operational priorities of the ORC, working with the strengths and interests of the intern, and will involve working across a number of areas as follows:
Marketing and Events - Assist the Development Manager with marketing tasks such as social media management (including content creation) and distribution of other digital and hard-copy marketing collateral. The intern would also assist with event management duties such as front of house and volunteer coordination, and a range of ad-hoc administrative functions.
Projects and Programs - Assist the Projects and Programs Manager with an evaluation of current programs and educational initiatives to improve accessibility. The ORC is looking especially to build on and extend existing partnerships with Music Therapy specialists and Bloomfield hospital to better serve the health community. This will be a community-facing role that will require strategic thinking and initiative.
Innovation - Assist the Innovation Officer in building community engagement and interest with new and current programs, with a particular focus on ensemble participation and music in schools. Building on accessibility and investigating current barriers to participation, this role will require creative thinking and a flair for digital and face-to-face communication.
Outloud is a youth arts organisation based on Darug land in Bankstown, Western Sydney. It provides dynamic, socially driven arts opportunities for young people in the community. Outloud is bringing together professional and emerging artists with disabilities to create a performance at Activate Central, an all-abilities play space in Milperra, Western Sydney.
Internship title: Emerging Arts Worker Internship with Outloud
Role description: This internship will give you experiences across different aspects of being an arts worker while helping to create a site-specific performance by artists with a disability at Activate Central.
Key duties: This will be a varied internship, which can be tailored to the right person’s skills, experience and interests. You can work across producing, marketing and ensuring the processes of making this artwork are accessible and fun for the young artists involved.
Working with Outloud’s Creative Producer, Artistic Director and Marketing Officer, this intern will be actively involved in many aspects of working in a small-to-medium arts organisation.
Performance Space based at Carriageworks, is dedicated to fostering inclusivity through our access and inclusion program. This is done through our year round artist development program and Liveworks, ourannual major presentation season each October at Carriageworks. Performance Space is the crucible for risk-taking artistsand has consistently identified, nurtured and presented new directions in contemporary practice for artists and audiences in Sydney, Australia and the Asia Pacific.
Our Queer Development Program (QDP), part of our annual artist development program, builds and strengthens queer creativity and performance in Australia. Unique in Australia, we partner with PACT, Centre for Emerging Artists in Erskineville for the QDP which provides opportunities for queer artists to develop their creative skills, performance ideas and industry connections. Internship Title 1: Associate Producer - Queer Development Program (QDP) based at PACT (middle of the year)
Internship Title 2: Associate Producer – Liveworks based at Carriageworks – October.
Role Descriptions: To grow skills in delivery of performance work and/or festivals, and work with independent artists who work in experimental new work. Experience and interest in the arts and preferably experience in an arts organisation before or has transferable skills to working in a small team.
Tasks include:
- Organising all aspects of the work/development program for the artists
- Researching and sourcing materials
- Arranging travel and accommodation for artists
- Liaising with the Access Coordinator on the access program of the festival
Skills Preferred:
- Worked in an arts organisation previously
- Worked in programming role or in events or project delivery role
- Intermediate Word, Excel and Gsuite skills

Area of Organisation: This role would work closely with the Head of Programming and Program Coordinator as well as the broader team to deliver the 2024 QDP or Liveworks program.

Role Description: Sydney Theatre Company are looking for applicants who have a passion for Australian theatre and wish to learn more about the behind-the-scenes and potentially develop their career in the theatre. A suitable placement will provide exposure to areas of their interest while assisting STC to put on great shows. These areas could include:

Tantrum Youth Arts is the leading professional arts organisation based in the Hunter region (Newcastle), dedicated to supporting young and emerging artists. Internship Title: Producer Internship
Role Description: Tantrum Youth Arts is seeking a motivated and organised individual with a passion for live events to intern with us in 2024. We are a small but noisy team of change-makers and artists. We exist to serve our community and amplify the creative voices of young people and emerging artists through our distinctive creative programs.
The Producer Intern will support the development and presentation of a unique live activation in September/October with Tantrum's Accelerate Ensemble. The role will provide producing, administrative and marketing support to Tantrum's team, and will have the opportunity to work closely with Accelerate Ensemble in developing the work.
Varuna the National Writers’ House is the foremost institution for literature development in Australia. Originally the home of writers Eleanor Dark and Dr Eric Dark, each year, over 200 writers participate in residencies and professional development programs at Varuna, and many hundreds more readers and writers participate in its workshop programs and literary events.
A highlight of Varuna’s annual calendar, to be held on the first weekend of November, is The Blue Mountains Writers’ Festival. Working as part of a small team, this internship entails assisting with Festival administration, marketing, and production, providing an excellent opportunity for any arts worker seeking to expand their events experience.
