The Works
Transport for NSW advises that Rhomberg Sersa Australia will be performing critical and urgent repair works on the lower bridge girders of the steel rail bridge that spans Boambee Creek at Sawtell, from 6:00am to 6:00pm (Monday to Friday) from Monday, 12 February 2024 to Monday, 26 August 2024.
Navigation Restriction
Yellow buoys will be placed on the navigable waters of Boambee Creek at Sawtell either side of the affected bridge span to warn approaching vessels and red and green channel marks for navigational aid under span 3. At least one (1) channel will remain trafficable during the construction works at any given time between the above times on the above dates.
Vessel operators are to exercise caution when navigating in the vicinity of the works and pay particular attention to construction work vessels, lighting & day shapes and any advisory signage.
Directions
Transport for NSW advises that in relation to the works:
Persons within the vicinity of the works must comply with any directions given by any Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the works or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
Vessels are required to travel at a safe speed (no more than 4 knots) and maintain a safe distance from the works. Operators are reminded that the production of wash which impacts unreasonably on the works is an offence (Marine Safety Regulation 2016 – clause 11(2)) - Maximum Penalty $5,500.00)
