About the project
A network of new and co-located fixed wireless towers will boost internet services for more than 10,000 homes and businesses across regional NSW.
44 communities in rural, remote, and coastal locations will receive improved connectivity as part of a $50 million agreement between the NSW Government and NBN Co, this includes:
- more choice of internet service providers
- better pricing
- faster download speeds
- increased reliability – making it easier to work remotely and access online services.
Through the project, small communities, and the areas outside of townships, will be able to connect to metropolitan grade internet, helping to reduce the reliance on satellite services.
The agreement is part of the $60 million grant funding opportunity announced in 2022.
In July 2024, two locations (Mungindi, and the area outside of Moree) were removed from the project due to duplication, with fixed wireless internet services available from a local provider.
