Accreditation of Professional Development Courses Policy
11. Glossary
Item | Explanation |

Authorised Provider | A provider of PD courses for teachers that has been authorised by NESA to assess and accredit PD courses they offer in priority areas as NESA Accredited PD. |

NESA Accredited Professional Development | A professional development course in an identified priority area that has been approved by NESA or an Authorised Provider in line with the requirements, principles and criteria referenced in Section 4 of the Policy. |
partnership | If a partnership exists related to the delivery of a NESA Accredited PD course, a written agreement must be in place which states the provider that sought accreditation of the course/s is responsible for fulling the roles and responsibilities set out in Section 9.1. |
priority area | An area of teaching practice that the Minister, on advice from the NESA Board, has identified as a priority for all teachers’ ongoing professional growth, and in which all teachers must complete professional development to maintain their accreditation. |
professional development | For the purposes of the Policy, professional development refers to a course or program designed to provide opportunities to teachers to extend their learning and improve their practice. |
provider | An entity that delivers, or is applying for accreditation of, a NESA Accredited PD course/s to accredited teachers in NSW. |
