6. Renewal of course accreditation
NESA Accredited PD courses are accredited for a two-year period. At the end of the two-year period, a provider may apply to NESA9 to renew the accreditation of a NESA Accredited PD course, if eligible. If a course is not successfully renewed at the end of the two-year period, the course will be removed from the NESA database and can no longer be offered as a NESA accredited course.
For a course to be eligible for renewal as NESA Accredited PD:
- the provider must:
- have active provider status (i.e. the course must have been delivered at least once each year)
- continue to fulfil the roles and responsibilities of providers set out in Section 9.1
- provide course evaluation data from the previous two-years for assessment by NESA; and
- the course must:
- continue to meet the criteria in Section 4.2, including relevance of the course to a current NESA priority area.
Providers must return the completed renewal form, signed by the provider’s CEO, within 28 days of the date of notification. Risk assessments will be used in order to select providers to undergo further auditing processes (See Section 10.1).
Where eligibility requirements have not been met, providers seeking to renew a course will be asked to show cause as to why NESA should renew its accreditation.
Where a priority area/s change to such an extent that a NESA Accredited PD course no longer relates to an identified priority area, the course will not be eligible for renewal. The course will remain accredited until the end of its current period of accreditation. While the expiration of a course’s accreditation does not preclude a provider from continuing to deliver the course, a course will only contribute to the NESA Accredited PD requirements for a teacher if they completed it during the period that the course was accredited.
9 Authorised Providers listed in Section 4.1.1 assess courses they offer for renewal or accreditation. Authorised Providers may renew the accreditation of a course, provided they continue to fulfil the roles and responsibilities in Section 9.1.1 and the course continues to meet the criteria in Section 4.2, including relevance of the course to a current NESA priority area.
