Using this component

Do

  • Use on landing pages to list large amounts of resources with the ability to search and filter them.
  • Limit other components on your page. The page should mostly be dedicated to the Resource search and filter component. If you add other elements to the page, such as a summary or call out, position the Resource search and filter component last on the page.
  • Add a heading above the Resource search and filter.

Don’t

  • Add more than 1 Resource search and filter component to your landing page.

How to add the component to your landing page

To add the News search and filter component to your landing page:

  1. Create a new full width section and click Add block.
  2. In the Choose a block screen, search for Resource Search & Filter and select the component from the search results. The Configure block screen will open and you can adjust the settings.
  3. Title field: this can be left with the default text or customised. The title won’t be visible publicly.
  4. In the General accordion you can customise the title of the filters and choose to include the images associated with your resource.

  5. The Results display accordion can be left with the default settings or customised.

  6. In Result set filters click Add more. You will need to choose what resources will display in the listing. If nothing is applied, then every resource on nsw.gov.au will be displayed.

In the Vocabulary field select the type of filter, for example you could choose ‘Agency’ and then in the new field Terms enter your agency.

Another example could be to choose ‘Audience’ and in the Terms field and enter your target audience, such as ‘young people’ to display all site content for young people.

For your result filter to function, your resource must have that tag added.

  7. The Keyword search accordion can be left with the default text or customised. This will appear with the keyword search function to the left of the resource listings.

  8. The Tag filters accordion is where you provide what filters will be available to users on the left of the listings.

For example, if you have chosen the Result set filteras ‘Agency’ (in step 6), you may want to add the Vocabulary as ‘Topic’ for users to sort through the results based on the different topic tags that your agency has applied to your resources. In the Terms field you can choose specific topics to appear.

If you are adding multiple terms, use a comma to separate each, for example ‘Seniors health (677), Young people's health (683)’. If you don't use the Terms field all tags available on nsw.gov.au within that Vocabulary set will show.

You can add multiple filters, for example Agency, Audience, Topic, campaign, category and more – so long as those tags have been applied to your resources.

You should also update the Tag filter label above the Vocabulary to reflect the filter type you are applying.

For your tag filter to function, your resource must have that tag added.

  9. You can leave the Date range with the default setting of ‘on’ or turn it off.

  10. Click Update to save.
