About our medical imaging services
Medical imaging has become a critical part of modern healthcare that involves the production of high quality images for the purpose of diagnosis of injury or disease. Our networked and digital imaging services give your referring doctor or specialist a report on your medical imaging that supports your clinical care. A patient's diagnosis and ultimate treatment is often dependent on the images produced. Medical imaging uses both ionising and non-ionising radiation in the imaging process.
Medical imaging services
Our medical imaging services include:
- general X-ray (plain radiography)
- ultrasound examinations (also known as sonography)
- computed tomography (CT) scans
- nuclear medicine including positron emission tomography (PET)
- magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans
- orthopantomogram (OPG)
- fluoroscopy
- interventional radiology.
Our team
Medical imaging services are provided by our team of trained health specialists including:
- radiographers
- radiologists
- radiology nurses.
Accessing medical imaging services
You don't need to be a hospital inpatient to access medical imaging services. Limited outpatient X-rays and a range of medical imaging services are available at some Murrumbidgee LHD hospitals. Note that emergencies and urgent inpatients will take precedence over outpatient examinations which may/can be rescheduled at short notice. Murrumbidgee LHD bulk bills for outpatient medical imaging services so there is no cost for any Medicare-eligible funded service.
My Imaging Portal
The My Imaging Portal allows you to easily access and share your exams with your doctor or other referrer. You can also manage your own images, x-rays, and exam data using various user-friendly devices that support browsers. To find out more, inquire about it during your next imaging appointment.
- At your next imaging appointment, ask the receptionist to give you access to your images online.
- You'll need to provide an email address and mobile phone number to set up your access.
- You'll also need to grant approval verbally or via signature on a form.
An email will be sent to you with login details and a link to access the My Imaging portal (PDF 1.02MB).
You can also get a paper print out with a code to take to your doctor or other referrer.
