Report a bushfire or fire hazard
How to report bushfires and bushfire hazards.
Report a bushfire hazard
If you are aware of a bushfire hazard on your own or a neighbouring property, contact your local NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) Fire Control Centre for advice or to report it.
The RFS can issue a Bushfire Hazard Reduction Notice to a property owner or manager.
If you're a private landowner, you can also report a bushfire hazard online.
Report bushfire arson
Bushfire arson impacts people, property and the environment.
Report suspicious behaviour to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
If possible, record the details and appearance of any people or vehicles that might be involved.
Report a cigarette butt tosser
It's illegal to throw cigarette butts from vehicles. Smouldering or lit cigarettes can start fires.
You can report someone who throws out a lit cigarette butt on the NSW RFS website or call 1800 679 737 and leave a message.
Report fallen powerlines
If you see fallen powerlines stay at least 8 metres or 2 car lengths away. Report the danger to the energy distributor responsible for that area:
