TAFE NSW Counselling and Career Development Service is free and confidential for prospective TAFE NSW students.  Counsellors can assist you with course choice decisions and career planning.

Literacy, numeracy and digital skills

Skills for Education and Employment (jobsearch) and Skills for Education and Employment (TAFE NSW) - Free accredited training in reading, writing, maths and computer skills to help you find a job or a future training pathway.

Foundation Skills for your Future (TAFE NSW) - TAFE NSW supports eligible Australians to develop critical language, literacy, numeracy, and digital (LLND) skills that are required by employers and industry, to meet current and future skills needs. The program covers all regions in NSW as individuals undertake further education and training, remain in employment, or change jobs. NSW Adult and Community Education (ACE)

Built for Women - is about attracting women to rewarding careers in trades industries that are experiencing skills shortages. There is a wide range of full and part qualifications in construction and related fields. The fee-free Built for Women training program targets women aged 16 to 24, female jobseekers, women at risk of unemployment and women in receipt of Commonwealth benefits.

Trade Pathways Program  – Women in Trades fee free program offering pre-trade short courses as a first step to attract women who have not previously accessed opportunities to gain trade skills. Aims to support women transitioning to trade work. 

Subsidised or fee free short courses - traineeships, apprenticeships, carers programs and mature age workers scholarship

Career Transition Assistance - is for people aged 45 and older to help you build skills and confidence to be more competitive in your local job market

Training for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples - A range of services and programs including Mentorship, Career and business development, Fee-free training, Local networks

Smart and Skilled -  Government subsidised courses and training providers near your location. The Skills List identifies courses that help people get the skills they need to find a job. Stepping Into Internships - Australian Network on Disability (AND) Stepping Into program for University Students with disability. Stepping Into is a paid internship scheme that matches talented university students with disability with roles in leading Australian businesses.

Transition to Work -supports young people aged 15-24 who haven’t had a job in the last six months and don’t have a Year 12 certificate or Certificate III.

CareerTrackers - for young Indigenous adults a national non-profit organisation with the goal of creating pathways and support systems for Indigenous young adults to attend and graduate from university.

Trade Pathways Program - Construction for over 21 year olds.  Fee-free gap training for people over 21 years old, have at least 2 years industry experience and have worked in the industry within the last five years. Opportunity to have experience and skills recognised. 

Infrastructure Skills Legacy Program (ISLP) - Aims to increase number of skilled construction workers and create new employment pathways.

Training for women whose first language is not English

Women's multicultural hubs - Support women to start social enterprises to support their community, and find employment via creative learning, training, technology and employment opportunities.   

Skillmax - Intensive five week course for skilled professionals on local labour market conditions and skills for successful job applications and interviews.

English for Employment Employability skills course - A more supported, slower paced ten-week SkillMax employability skills course (has a focus on greater English language supports in workplace communications then SkillMax).
