Our Developmental Disabilities Service at Westmead Hospital provides outpatient rehabilitation for adults with developmental disabilities.
Our team offers multidisciplinary assessment, review and ongoing support to help you reach your goals and improve your everyday life.
Specialist clinics
The service runs a range of specialist rehabilitation outpatient clinics.
Supports adults using Baclofen pumps to manage spasticity.
Includes regular assessment, review and pump refills.
Offers assessment and management for adults with spasticity caused by a developmental disability such as cerebral palsy.
Treatment may include Botulinum Toxin A injections, if clinically recommended.
Provides assessment, review and support for adults with Down Syndrome.
The team works with you to set and achieve goals that improve your quality of life.
Supports adults with swallowing difficulties (dysphagia).
The team provides dietetic, speech pathology, medical and nursing care focused on nutrition, swallowing and developmental disability review.
Provides multidisciplinary assessment, review and support for adults with developmental disabilities that include physical conditions such as cerebral palsy.
Offers assessment, review and support for adults with Rett Syndrome.
The focus is on achieving personal goals and improving everyday function.
Provides comprehensive assessment and ongoing support for adults with spina bifida.
Care includes monitoring of neurological and orthopaedic issues such as shunt, bladder and bowel function, skin health, pain and its management.
