The Oncology Unit in Broken Hill Hospital provides a range of services for patients diagnosed with cancer.
Our team of accredited oncology nurses provide education and advice, to patients and their families and administer individually designed chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other treatments as advised by out medical specialists.
Specialist medical services are provided by specialists from Adelaide, in person and by virtual care.

Medical Day Only
The Medical Day Only Unit, part of the Oncology Unit, provides day-only procedures including but not limited to:
- Iron Infusions
- Specialist drug infusions
- Blood transfusions
- Venesections for non-malignant conditions.
Your specialist will explain and advise your treatment frequency- this can range from weekly to monthly.
How to Access these services
A referral from a doctor or specialist is required for all these services.
Our administration/nursing teams will provide you with details of your appointment once all details have been provided by the referring physician.

About our team
Our Oncology/Medical Day Only unit has a range of different staff.
Our Clinical Support Officer is the first person you will see when you enter into the unit. The CSO is responsible for the daily check in of all patients, and to ensure all your patient record information is up to date.
Far West LHD provides a range of services to support people living with cancer, from the point of diagnosis, through treatment, follow up and survivorship. We also work to increase early detection through education and screening.
